Louise McKinney Post-Secondary Scholarship Competition

The Louise McKinney Post-Secondary Scholarship Competition was created by the Alberta Heritage Scholarship Office to recognize and reward students for their academic achievements and encourage them to continue in their undergraduate program of study.

Approximately 450 scholarships at $2,500 each are available to University of Alberta students who are Alberta residents (as defined by Alberta Heritage), in approximately the top 1.5 to 2% of their class, and who plan to enroll at the U of A in the second or subsequent year of a full-time program.

Nomination/Application

Candidates must be Alberta residents (as defined by Alberta Scholarships) and are nominated by the University of Alberta on the basis of superior academic achievement on a full normal course load taken during the preceding Fall/Winter Term (September to April). Candidates will be sent an application in July, to be completed and returned to the Student Awards Office.

Students who have completed a degree program and are proceeding into another undergraduate program or a professional program must apply directly to the Student Awards Office by July 1.

Alberta Residency Definition (as defined by Alberta Scholarships)

Getting results

Final approval will come directly from the Alberta Heritage Scholarship Office, which distributes the scholarships in November.
