Important information about admission to the Faculty

There is no direct entry from high school into the Bachelor of Education (BEd) program in the Faculty of Education. Students must first complete at least 24 units of transferable course weight relating to their chosen program route in another Faculty or other accredited postsecondary institution. Admission is competitive based on a student's overall academic record.

If you plan to make a career of helping others learn, the U of A's Faculty of Education earns top marks for preparing some of Canada's finest educators.

You will have the foundation necessary to pursue a career in the school system and beyond.

Working with students is the cornerstone of your education. Experience gained in classroom observation and practicum placements will move from half days of observation to full classroom responsibility.
