Faculty of Nursing

A model for other nursing programs throughout the country, the U of A Faculty of Nursing prepares you to work closely with individuals, families, and communities in the management of their health care.

Health care provision is a rapidly changing field. Over the past several years, it has been shifting its focus towards community-based care, and the U of A Faculty of Nursing has risen to meet this challenge. You will have the benefit of studying with an innovative and dedicated faculty, renowned for their exceptional research.

A context-based learning (CBL) curriculum is used in the collaborative baccalaureate program. CBL has students working in small groups under the guidance of a tutor to explore scenarios that integrate content from nursing, physical sciences, social sciences and humanities. Each learning scenario involves a story about an individual(s), their life situation and health issues or problems which students must work together to resolve. CBL is an exciting way to develop critical thinking skills and promote lifelong learning, essentials for a successful career in the health field.
