Faculty Summer Research Awards

Frank Aherne Undergraduate Award

Field of Study: Agriculture or Animal Health

Conditions: Awarded to a student with a minimum GPA of 3.0 entering or enrolled in the fourth year of the BSc. in Agriculture or BSc. in Animal Health program in the Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences who is involved with hands-on learning experience related to food animal production. This will include practical experience in a professional, industrial, or research setting (at the University of Alberta, a partner institution or a government research facility). Recipient will be selected on the basis of academic standing and the proposed experiential learning opportunity.

Roger S Smith Undergraduate Student Research Award in the Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences

Field of Study: Human Ecology or Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology

Conditions: Awarded to students in satisfactory academic standing with a Faculty GPA of 3.0 or higher entering the second, third or fourth year of undergraduate study in the Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences. This award is intended to cultivate and support research partnerships between undergraduate students and faculty members in SSHRC fundable disciplines. The funding will provide for 15 weeks of research-based activity from May to August. Students must not have completed degree requirements prior to commencement of the research term.

Application/Nomination Procedure: By application to the Department of Human Ecology or the Department of Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology by April 1. Students must work with a professor to develop a one-page research proposal.

Roger S Smith Undergraduate Student Research Award Augustana Faculty

Field of Study: Augustana

Conditions: Awarded to students in satisfactory academic standing with a Faculty GPA of 3.0 or higher entering the second, third or fourth year of undergraduate study at Augustana Faculty. This award is intended to cultivate and support research partnerships between undergraduate students and faculty members in SSHRC fundable disciplines. The funding will provide for 15 weeks of research-based activity from May to August. Students must not have completed degree requirements prior to the commencement of the research term.

Conditions: Awarded to students in satisfactory academic standing with a GPA of 3.0 or higher entering the second, third or fourth year of undergraduate study at Faculté Saint-Jean. This award is intended to cultivate and support research partnerships between undergraduate students and faculty members in SSHRC fundable disciplines. The funding will provide for 15 weeks of research-based activity from May to August. Students must not have completed degree requirements prior to the commencement of the research term.

This award is intended to cultivate and support research partnerships between undergraduate students and faculty members in SSHRC fundable disciplines. The funding will provide for 15 weeks (approximately 330 hours) of research-based activity from May to August. Students must not have completed degree requirements prior to the commencement of the research term.
