Leadership Scholarships for Entrance Students

Charlotte A and J Garner Caddel Memorial Leadership Scholarship

Field of Study: Open

Conditions: Awarded annually to a County of Strathcona high school graduate with superior academic achievement entering the first year of an undergraduate program at the University of Alberta. The recipient will be chosen on the basis of leadership qualities as demonstrated by involvement in extracurricular activities and community service, and on Admission average.

Copp Family Leadership Scholarships

Field of Study: Open

Conditions: Awarded annually to students with superior academic achievement entering the first year of an undergraduate degree program at the University of Alberta. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of leadership qualities as demonstrated by involvement in extracurricular and community activities, and on Admission average.

William Crotty Memorial Leadership Scholarship

Field of Study: Arts, Engineering, or Science

Conditions: Awarded annually to a student with superior academic achievement entering the first year of an undergraduate program in the Faculties of Arts, Engineering, or Science at the University of Alberta. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of leadership qualities as demonstrated by involvement in extracurricular and community activities, and on Admission average. Special consideration will be given to graduates of Archbishop MacDonald High School (Edmonton, AB) who exhibit good humor and/or have demonstrated financial need.

Marla Csorba Leadership Scholarship

Field of Study: Open

Conditions: Awarded to a student with superior academic achievement entering the first year of an undergraduate degree. Selection based on academic standing, demonstrated leadership through community service and involvement. Preference given to a student from a single parent family.

Susan B. Eckert Memorial Scholarship in Science

Field of Study: Science

Conditions: Awarded to a student on the basis of superior academic achievement entering the first year of an undergraduate degree program in the Faculty of Science. Selection based on Admission average and demonstrated financial need, with preference given to a student who has graduated from a High School in the City of Edmonton. Preference will also be given to a female student planning to pursue studies in the biological sciences.

Hu Harries Memorial Entrance Leadership Awards

Field of Study: Open

Conditions: Awarded annually to Canadian citizens or permanent residents with satisfactory academic achievement entering the first year of an undergraduate degree at the University of Alberta who are or have been a volunteer of the YMCA, YWCA, or similar institution. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of academic promise, leadership qualities, and social conscience. Financial need may be considered.

William and Mary Hawrysh Memorial Leadership Scholarships

Field of Study: Open

Conditions: Awarded annually to Alberta high school graduates with superior academic achievement entering the first year of an undergraduate degree program at the University of Alberta. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of leadership qualities as demonstrated by involvement in extracurricular and community activities, and on Admission average.

Funded by: Endowed by the late William Nestor Hawrysh and his wife, Katerina Hawrysh in memory of Mr Hawrysh's parents, William and Mary Hawrysh.

Adele MacInnis Memorial Leadership Scholarships

Field of Study: Open

Conditions: Awarded annually to rural Alberta residents entering the first year of an undergraduate degree program at the University of Alberta from a rural Alberta high school. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of superior academic achievement as demonstrated by Admission average, and on leadership qualities as demonstrated by involvement in extracurricular and community activities. Preference is given to students with demonstrated financial need.

Hugh McColeman Engineering Leadership Scholarship

Field of Study: Engineering

Conditions: Awarded to students with superior academic achievement (Admission average of 85% or higher) entering their first year of an Engineering degree program. Recipients will be selected on the basis of leadership qualities as demonstrated by involvement in extracurricular and/or community activities, Admission average, and demonstrated financial need.

Millar Western Entrance Leadership Scholarships

Field of Study: Open

Conditions: Awarded to Alberta high school graduates with superior academic achievement entering the first year of an undergraduate degree program at the University of Alberta. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of leadership qualities as demonstrated by involvement in extracurricular and community activities, and on Admission average. Special consideration will be given to individuals graduating from high schools in Whitecourt, Boyle, and Fox Creek, Alberta in which the Millar Western Group of Companies conducts operations.

Dana Morimoto Memorial Entrance Leadership Scholarship

Field of Study: Open

Conditions: Awarded to a student with superior academic achievement entering the first year of any undergraduate degree program. Selection based on Admission average and on demonstrated involvement in extracurricular activities and community leadership. Preference given to a student who has graduated from an Alberta high school located north of metropolitan Edmonton and/or of M├ętis descent as included in the Consitution Act, 1982, Sections 35(2) and confirmed by the University's relevant admission policy (currently GFC Policy Section 11.9.2).

Andrew Starzyk Memorial Leadership Scholarship

Preference is given students with demonstrated financial need.

Funded by: Endowed by Wes, Shelley, Daniel and Shana Alexander in honor of Jake Superstein, member of the Board of Governors of the University of Alberta (1986 to 1992) and his wife, Ruth Grabow-Superstein, to commemorate their 50th wedding anniversary, 27 August 1994.
