Bell / Van Allen Bursary

Field of Study: Open

Conditions: Awarded to students with satisfactory academic standing enrolled in any year of an undergraduate or graduate degree who are currently serving, have served or are descendants of those who have honorably served in the Canadian Armed Forces or Reserves, including children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Selection based on demonstrated financial need. Documentation of military service and/or relationship to a person who served or is serving must be provided.

Barbara Jacobson Memorial Graduate Bursary in Education

Field of Study: Education

Conditions: Awarded to students with satisfactory academic standing with a GPA of 3.0 or greater enrolled in any year of a graduate degree program in the Faculty of Education. Selection based on demonstrated financial need. Preference given to students enrolled in the Department of Educational Policy Studies with demonstrated leadership in Adult and higher education or alternative delivery of learning experiences to Aboriginal, rural, and northern communities.

Frances Camyre Memorial Foundation Bursary

Field of Study: Open

Conditions: Awarded annually to undergraduate or graduate students with satisfactory academic standing enrolled in the second, third or fourth year of any degree program. Recipients will be selected on the basis of demonstrated financial need and must have been residents of Alberta for at least five years.

Field of Study: Arts

Conditions: To be awarded annually to undergraduate or graduate students with satisfactory academic standing enrolled in the third year of studies in any degree program in the Faculty of Arts. Recipients will be selected on the basis of financial need. Preference will be given to single parents and low-income families.

Conditions: Awarded to student(s) with satisfactory academic standing enrolled in any year of a graduate degree in the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, and are assessed market modifier fees. Selection based on demonstrated financial need. A maximum of $1,500.00 in the case of domestic students and $2,500.00 in the case of international students will be awarded.

Selection based on demonstrated financial need. Preference given to a student with a specialization in Ecology.

R. Bernice Friedman Bursary

Field of Study: Open

Conditions: Awarded annually to undergraduate or graduate students in any year of a degree program who is a Canadian Citizen and is of Aboriginal descent as defined by the Constitution Act, 1982, Section 35 (2) or persons accepted by one of the Aboriginal peoples of Canada as a member of their community. Recipient will be selected on the basis of demonstrated financial need.

Friends Of Pharmacy Graduate Student Bursary

Field of Study: Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences

Conditions: Awarded annually to full-time student registered in, or admissible to, a graduate degree program in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Alexander Gordey Memorial Graduate Education Bursary

Field of Study: FGSR

Conditions: Awarded to full-time students who have resided in Alberta for a minimum of five years, entering or enrolled in a master's or doctoral program in the Department of Elementary Education or the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Alberta and whose area of research is Early Childhood Education, School Libraries, or Diagnostic Reading & Teaching or Special Education. Recipients will be chosen based on an outstanding commitment to their chosen profession (demonstrated by letters of reference from parents of children, school management or faculty) and financial need and should not be in receipt of a major award.

Funded by: Endowed by the estate of Sophie Kowalchuk. Sophie Kowalchuk was a teacher, a librarian and a diagnostic reading specialist. She was committed to her profession and students and had a special interest in teaching children to read. This bursary was established in memory of her brother, Alexander Gordey.

A Dr Cheryl and Dr Peter Guest Graduate Bursary in Educational Psychology
