Adams Trust Oil and Gas Prize

Field of Study: Law-Oil and Gas Issues

Conditions: To be awarded annually to the student who achieves the highest mark in LAW 543 (Basic Oil and Gas Law) at the University of Alberta in the Faculty of Law. In the event that there is no eligible candidate from this course, this prize will then be given to the student with the highest mark in LAW 552 (Natural Resources Law). In the event that there are no eligible candidates in either course the Prize is then to be awarded to the student selected to receive the Horace Harvey Medal in Law for the current academic year.

R John Adams and Agnes M Adams Prize for Research in Current Oil and Gas Issues

Field of Study: Law

Conditions: To be awarded annually to an undergraduate or graduate student in the Faculty of Law who prepares and submits a paper for this prize only, on a subject which is a contemporary legal issue in the oil and gas industry in Canada. Recipient will be the student who receives the highest mark on this paper.

Field of Study: Law

Conditions: To be awarded annually to a student with superior academic achievement entering the second year of studies in the Faculty of Law. Recipient will be selected on the basis of academic standing. Additional selection criteria may include financial need, being a member of an historically disadvantaged group as defined by Opening Doors Plan of the University of Alberta, involvement in the community, extra-curricular activities at the University or at the Law School, and whether a student has multiple responsibilities and limited support. This scholarship is renewable for an additional year provided the student remains within the top 20% of the class. Recipients chosen for this scholarship will become part of a group known as Blakes Scholars.

Joseph Paul Brumlik Scholarship for Excellence in Advocacy

Field of Study: Law

Conditions: To be awarded annually to a student with superior academic achievement (3.5 grade point average or higher) enrolled in a full normal course load in the third year in the Faculty of Law. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic standing and demonstrated excellence in advocacy skills. If no suitable candidate can be found, no scholarship will be given. The method of selection of the recipient and the criteria for the scholarship shall be determined annually by the Prizes and Awards Committee of the Faculty of Law in consultation with Joseph Brumlik.
