American Historical Society of Germans From Russia (Edmonton District Chapter) Scholarship

Field of Study: German

Conditions: Awarded to students with superior academic achievement in any year of an undergraduate degree. Selection based on academic standing and demonstrated intent to further their German studies.

Lillian Cobb Memorial Scholarship in Romance Languages

Field of Study: Romance Languages

Conditions: Awarded to a student with superior academic achievement enrolled in the third year of an undergraduate degree in the Faculty of Arts. Selection based on academic standing and demonstrated excellence in Italian, French, or Spanish coursework. Preference given to a student in indicated financial need.

Edelweiss-Club Scholarship

Field of Study: German

Conditions: Awarded to a student with superior academic achievement enrolled in any year of an undergraduate degree at the University of Alberta. Selection based on academic standing and demonstrated excellence in senior-level German coursework. Indicated financial need may also be a consideration.

Catherine Folinsbee Memorial Scholarship

Field of Study: Modern Languages and Cultural Studies

Conditions: Awarded to students with superior academic achievement enrolled in third or fourth year of a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages and Cultural Studies. Selection based on academic standing. Preference given to students with a demonstrated interest in attending a program of formal language of study in an environment where one of the languages offered by the Department is the official language.

EJH Greene Memorial Scholarships in Romance Languages

Field of Study: Romance Languages

Conditions: Awarded to a student with superior academic achievement enrolled in the third or fourth year of a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages and Cultural Studies. Selection based on academic standing and demonstrated excellence in French, Italian, Latin American Studies, or Spanish coursework.

Funded by: Endowed by family and friends of EJH Greene, former head of the Department of Romance Languages.

Mrs Kathe & Mr Siegfried Klotsche Scholarship in German

Field of Study: German Language

Conditions: Awarded to a student with superior academic achievement enrolled in any year or convocating with a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages and Cultural Studies. Selection based on academic standing and demonstrated excellence in German coursework. Preference given to a student with demonstrated volunteerism in Edmonton's German community or volunteerism in social and/or community-based organizations.

Dr Geneva Misener Memorial Scholarship in Modern Languages

Field of Study: Modern Languages and Cultural Studies

Conditions: Awarded to a student with superior academic achievement enrolled in the fourth year of a Bachelor of Arts with honors in Modern Languages and Cultural Studies. Selection based on academic standing.

Gregory and Julia Patrick Award in Ukrainian Culture

Field of Study: Ukrainian

Conditions: To be awarded annually to a graduate or undergraduate student who submits the best proposal for a research project in the area of Ukrainian performing arts or ritual. Recipients will be selected on the basis of the proposal submitted and financial need.

The Gowrah Ramlugon Memorial Award

Field of Study: French

Conditions: Awarded to a student with satisfactory academic standing enrolled in the third or fourth year of a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages and Cultural Studies. Selection based on academic standing and demonstrated excellence in French coursework.

Funded by: Asvina Bissonauth in memory of her grandmother, Gowrah Ramlugon, who passed away in Mauritius on June 22, 2006. Gowrah's first languages were Creole and Hindi but loved and valued the French and English languages.

Rosa Stephansson-Benediktson Scholarship in Comparative Literature

Field of Study: Comparative Literature

Conditions: Awarded to a student who is a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident with superior academic achievement enrolled in the third year of a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages and Cultural Studies. Selection based on academic achievement, commitment to community life and demonstrated excellence in Comparative Literature coursework.

Funded by: Endowed by the family of Rosa Stephansson-Benediktson in honor of the Icelandic-Canadian poet, Stephen G Stephansson to assist deserving students in the field of literature at the University of Alberta.

Torskeklubben-Founder's Scholarship

Field of Study: Scandinavian

Conditions: Awarded to a student with superior academic achievement enrolled in any year of an undergraduate degree at the University of Alberta. Selection based on academic standing, demonstrated in Scandinavian coursework and demonstrated excellence language acquisition.
