The following scholarships are part of the Faculty/Department Scholarship Competition.

Leo LeClerc Memorial Scholarship

Field of Study: Open

Conditions: Awarded to a student with superior academic achievement enrolled in any year of an undergraduate or graduate degree.  Selection based on academic standing.  Preference given to a student with a permanent disability or medical condition.

Funded by: Annually funded by Edmonton Rotary Club Foundation in memory of Leo LeClerc

Application/Nomination Procedure: By application to Student Accessibility Services

Catherine and Austin Mardon, CM Schizophrenia Award

Field of Study: Open

Conditions: Awarded to student(s) with satisfactory academic standing entering any year of an undergraduate degree who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia. Selection based on academic standing. If no eligible candidate is found, this may be awarded to a child or sibling of someone with schizophrenia.

Funded by: Funded by Janssen Inc., and Friends and Associates of Dr. Austin Mardon

Application/Nomination Procedure: By September 30 using an application form available from the Student Accessibility Services Office in the Students' Union Building.

Rollans Family Award

Field of Study: Open

Conditions: Awarded to student with satisfactory academic standing enrolled in any year of an undergraduate who has been assessed with a learning disability. Selection based on community involvement, volunteerism, and contributions made to others with learning disabilities, and academic standing.

Funded by: Endowed by Marie and William Rollans, their five children (R Shane, Patricia, Glenn, H Scott, and Maureen), and their families.

Dr Arturo Sanchez-Azofeifa & Dr Christine Orosz Scholarship in Science

Field of Study: Science

Conditions: Awarded to student(s) with superior academic achievement entering any year of an undergraduate degree in the Faculty of Science who have been diagnosed with a learning disability. Selection based on academic standing.

Funded by: Dr Arturo Sanchez-Azofeifa and Dr Christine Orosz, in honor of those living with learning disabilities who have chosen to pursue and excel in university studies

Application/Nomination Procedure: By September 30 to Student Accessibility Services. Please provide official transcripts and medical documentation indicating nature of learning disability

Robert Tegler Special Awards

Field of Study: Open

Conditions: To be awarded annually to Alberta residents with satisfactory academic standing with a physical disability entering the University of Alberta from high school or continuing in an undergraduate degree program. While due weight will be given to academic standing, special consideration will be given to the applicant's background, financial need, nature of disability, personal qualities, and other relevant points. The award may be offered to the same student more than once. A medical certificate must be supplied to the Student Accessibility Services Office.

Hilda Wilson Memorial Scholarship

Field of Study: Open

Conditions: To be awarded annually to an undergraduate or graduate student with a disability on the basis of superior academic achievement.

Funded by: Endowed by friends and family in memory of Hilda Wilson.

Application/Nomination Procedure: Apply to Student Accessibility Services

Dr Henry R Ziel Memorial Award

Field of Study: Open

Conditions: To be awarded annually to a student with satisfactory academic standing entering the University from high school or continuing in an undergraduate degree program who has a physical disability and uses a wheelchair permanently. Recipient will be selected on the basis of academic standing.

Funded by: Endowed by friends and colleagues in memory of the late Dr Henry R Ziel.
