T G Abraham Memorial Bursary in Engineering

Field of Study: Engineering

Conditions: Awarded to Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents students who identify as female with satisfactory academic standing who are enrolled in the first year of an undergraduate degree in the Faculty of Engineering. Selection based on demonstrated financial need. Preference given to students who are of Aboriginal descent as defined by the Constitution Act, 1982, Section 35 (2) or persons accepted by one of the Aboriginal peoples of Canada as a member of their community.

Art Kowalchuk Gas Processing Association Canada Bursary

Field of Study: Petroleum Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geology or Geophysics

Conditions: Awarded to a student with satisfactory academic standing entering in the third or fourth year of studies in Electrical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Geology or Geophysics. Selection based on financial need.

Roland (R.W.) Bick Memorial Bursary In Mining Engineering

Field of Study: Mining Engineering

Conditions: Awarded to an undergraduate student(s) with a minimum of 3.0 grade point average or equivalent, enrolled in the Bachelor of Science Mining Engineering degree program. Selection based on demonstrated financial need. Preference given to student(s) who have successfully completed a course in Business or Law in the current academic year.

Christopher and Anne Kean Bursary in Mechanical Engineering

Field of Study: Mechanical Engineering

Conditions: Awarded to a student who is a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident with satisfactory academic standing enrolled in any year of an undergraduate degree in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Selection based on demonstrated financial need. Preference given to a student from a rural area who moved to Edmonton to complete their studies.

Class Of 1949 Civil Engineers' Bursary

Field of Study: Civil Engineering

Conditions: Awarded annually to a student with satisfactory academic standing enrolled in the second, third or fourth year (fifth year if co-op) in the Faculty of Engineering pursuing a degree in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Recipient will be selected on the basis of financial need.

Funded by: Endowed by the Civil Engineering Class of 1949 to commemorate their 50th anniversary and in memory of all classmates

K H (Ken) Coburn Bursary in Mechanical Engineering

Field of Study: Engineering

Conditions: Awarded to students with satisfactory academic standing enrolled in any year of an undergraduate degree in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Selection based on demonstrated financial need. Preference given to students from rural Alberta.

Funded by: Endowed by Ken Coburn, P. Eng., a 1979 graduate in Mechanical Engineering, has endowed this bursary in celebration of a satisfying and rewarding career in the Canadian upstream oil & gas industry; a career enabled by a top notch engineering education at the University of Alberta. Ken was born in Edmonton, grew up on a farm on the northern outskirts of Edmonton and resides in Calgary.

Sheldon and Betty Comfort Bursary in Mining Engineering

Field of Study: Mining Engineering

Conditions: Awarded to students with satisfactory academic standing enrolled in the third or fourth year of a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering. Selection based on demonstrated financial need. In the event no suitable applicants can be found in the Mining Engineering degree program the bursary may be awarded to students enrolled in any year of a Bachelor of Science Engineering degree, with preference given to students in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and School of Mining and Petroleum Engineering.

Robert Nicholson Forbes Memorial Bursary In Mechanical Engineering

Field of Study: Mechanical Engineering

Conditions: Awarded to students enrolled in any year of study in an undergradaute degree in the Faculty of Engineering in the Mechanical Engineering program. Selection based demonstrated financial need.

Funded by: Endowed through a bequest by the late Maureen Forbes in memory of her husband, Robert Nicholson Forbes, a mechanical engineer.

Charles Stephen Gaillard Bursary

Field of Study: Engineering

Conditions: Awarded to students with a GPA of 2.7 or greater enrolled in the second, third or fourth year of an undergraduate degree in the Faculty of Engineering. Selection based on demonstrated financial need. Preference given to students enrolled in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering.

Conditions: Awarded to a student with satisfactory academic standing enrolled in any year of an undergraduate degree in the Faculty of Engineering.  Selection based on demonstrated financial need.

Pat Heron Commemorative Bursary

Field of Study: Engineering

Conditions: To be awarded annually to a student with satisfactory academic standing entering the third or fourth year of the engineering program. Recipient will be selected on the basis of academic standing combined with contributions made to community service and to engineering student activities, as well as participation in athletic or other creative activities. The financial need of the student will also be considered. At the discretion of the Selection Committee, the bursary may not be awarded if in their opinion no suitably qualified student can be found.

Funded by: Endowed by the family and friends of the late Pat Heron, a former Engineering student at the University of Alberta.

Robert McKee Hunter Bursary in Engineering

Field of Study: Engineering

Conditions: Awarded to students with satisfactory academic standing enrolled in any year of an undergraduate or graduate degree in the Faculty of Engineering. Selection based on demonstrated financial need.

Field of Study: Mining Engineering

Conditions: Awarded to students with satisfactory academic standing entering the third or fourth year in Mining Engineering. Selection based on academic standing and demonstrated financial need. If there are no suitable candidates entering fourth year, those entering third year may be considered.

Field of Study: Arts or Engineering

Conditions: Awarded to a transfer or first year undergraduate student with satisfactory academic standing enrolled in the Faculty of Arts or the Faculty of Engineering. Selection based on demonstrated financial need with preference given to a student from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick or Poland.

Recipient selected on the basis of demonstrated financial need. Preference given to a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident/Landed Immigrant from a low income family.

Field of Study: Engineering

Conditions: Awarded annually to a full-time student registered in a graduate degree program in a department within the Faculty of Engineering. The recipient will be selected on the basis of demonstrated financial need and satisfactory academic standing.

Layton Montpellier Memorial Bursary

Field of Study: Chemical Engineering

Conditions: Awarded annually to a student with satisfactory academic standing enrolled in the fourth year of studies in Chemical Engineering. Preference will be given to a student whose permanent residence is north of Edmonton, AB. Recipient will be selected on the basis of demonstrated financial need.

Funded by: Endowed by friends and family of Layton Montpellier who died tragically on Nov 10, 2001. Layton lived life to the fullest by working hard to complete his degree in Chemical Engineering, playing on three hockey teams, and having fun with his friends and family. This bursary has been established in Layton's memory to honour the effect he had on the lives of others.

Field of Study: Engineering

Conditions: Awarded to a student with satisfactory academic standing enrolled in the second, third or fourth year (fifth year if co-op) of an undergraduate degree in the Faculty of Engineering. Selection based on demonstrated financial need.
