94.6 Language and the Arts

Courses in the arts, humanities and social sciences are offered in formats that integrate cultural and contemporary societal issues and give context and meaning to the world around us. While the objective of a single course might be to teach a specific discipline or skill, ultimately our goal is simply to encourage learners to nurture their own curiosity. For more information, visit www.extension.ualberta.ca/study/arts/, e-mail liberalstudies@ualberta.ca, or phone (780) 492-3034.

94.6.1 Visual Arts

Visual Arts includes opportunities to explore a variety of techniques in drawing, design, and painting. For more information, visit www.extension.ualberta.ca/visualarts, e-mail liberalstudies@ualberta.ca, or phone (780) 492-3034.

94.6.2 Languages

A range of general interest courses are offered along with coursework leading to a Spanish Language Certificate. The cultural, historic and social aspects of the various languages provide learning contexts.

The Spanish Language Certificate is comprised of seven courses. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Students with previous knowledge of Spanish may sit a placement examination to determine their appropriate entry level.
